DWC’s New Deputy Commissioner for Operations and External Relations
Texas Workers’ Compensation Commissioner Jeff Nelson has announced the appointment of Matthew Posey as DWC’s new Deputy Commissioner of Operations and External Relations.
The DWC notice explains that Deputy Commissioner Posey brings his significant legislative relations experience to this role, most recently as the Government Relations Manager for Texas Aggregates & Concrete Association. He previously served the state as a chief of staff in the Texas House of Representatives for more than 10 years under Representative David Cook and former Representative Bill Zedler. During his time in the Texas House, he also served as a legislative director, assistant clerk for the Committee on Homeland and Public Safety, and clerk of House Transparency in State Agency Operations. He has also worked as the National Field Manager for Dr. Ben Carson’s presidential campaign. Deputy Commissioner Posey graduated from Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
