DWC Publishes Designated Doctor Narrative Report Templates
As part of DWC’s ongoing efforts to improve the Designated Doctor (DD) program, they have recently developed report templates for DDs to utilize. These templates provide a standardized approach to organizing the narrative to help DDs meet the narrative report requirements under various Chapter 127, Chapter 129, Chapter 130 and Chapter 137 rules (DWC has provided a detailed chart listing those requirements and the rule(s) behind each of them at https://www.tdi.texas.gov/wc/dd/documents/ddreportrules.pdf).
DWC emphasizes that, while these templates are not required, DWC strongly encourages their use. These templates purport to make it easier for all system participants to review DD reports and increase compliance with DD performance reviews.
Individual templates have been drafted covering each of the various issues that a DD might address: MMI, impairment rating, extent of injury, disability, return to work, return to work for SIBs, and other issues.
