DWC Advises Carriers on Reporting Injuries and Deaths Related to July Flooding Disaster
Widespread flooding impacted portions of the Concho Valley, Hill Country, and Central Texas regions beginning July 2, 2025. In a July 25, 2025 memorandum, Tammy Campion, DWC Deputy Commissioner of Business Process, provided electronic data interchange (EDI) instructions pertinent to the July flooding disaster in Texas.
Specifically, she asks Carriers to use Texas Claim electronic data interchange (EDI) cause of injury code 88. Natural Disasters when reporting injuries and deaths related to the July flooding disaster.
According to Ms. Campion, using this code will help DWC track claims, perform outreach to injured employees and beneficiaries, and provide information to the Legislature about DWC’s flooding disaster response.
