FO&L Annual Seminar – 2021: Looking Back and Looking Forward
Shortly after last year’s FO&L Seminar, the “Great Lockdown” gradually extended its tentacles across the world, as an initial response to the exponential spread of a novel coronavirus. Few may have thought that a year later we would still be dealing with its countless effects on our personal lives and our work.
As we mark a full year since the global pandemic upended all of our lives, FO&L is presenting our Annual Workers’ Compensation seminar in virtual format. Although we will greatly miss the chance to see friends in person, to shake hands, and break bread together, FO&L is following CDC-recommended social distancing measures. We all hope that things will have returned to some sense of normalcy and we will get to see everyone in person in 2022.
Texas Workers’ Compensation law is constantly changing. The Division issued more than 40 Appeals Panel Decisions since our last seminar. Texas courts also decided a number of important workers’ compensation cases. We are honored to help you stay abreast of these changes in Texas law.
In the coming sessions, we will address how to avoid compliance errors, how to deal with novel medical issues, how to strategically file DWC-45’s, what to expect from pending legislation, and how to find hidden money in your files through aggressive subrogation and SIF advocacy. Other speakers will examine the system from both claims handling and high level perspectives, which are critical to claims managers, brokers, risk managers, self-insureds, and ultimately to employers.
Our goal is to simplify an often complex legal system to assist you in applying the knowledge gained from this seminar to your day-to-day responsibilities. We are very grateful for your attendance. We trust you will find it time well spent.
