Q. A claimant submitted a request for mileage reimbursement for a 16-mile roundtrip. Should this be reimbursed? How far does the claimant need to travel to become entitled to mileage reimbursement? If mileage reimbursement is not due, do I need to file a PLN 11?
A. The travel needs to exceed 30 miles each way – so, reimbursement is not due. No PLN needs to be filed, just send the claimant the DWC-48 back with your determination on the second page.
Q. We have a claimant who fractured his wrist while riding a bull. Client confirmed claimant was in course of employment and therefore the claim is not questionable. However, claimant was terminated on 06/06/2019 because he used poor judgment and caused damage to a college vehicle. Claimant was working with restrictions up until the date of termination. Claimant was supposed to work during summer for the College, however due to the termination he will not. Claimant is relocating and moving back to South Carolina. We know claimant continues to be entitled to reasonable and necessary medical treatment for the fracture. Question: Is claimant entitled to receive TIBS as a result of this injury?
A. Not if he was being paid his pre-injury wage prior to the termination.
