GQ CornerQ. If an Employee has a second job and is deemed at MMI, do we pay the employee IIBs for second job as well?  Then collect from SIF?

A. Yes. IIBs would be calculated based on the AWW, so, if the AWW is inflated due to a second job, you should be able to recoup the extra amount, just as with TIBs.

Q. I had an injured worker submit his request for mileage reimbursement.  Our techs overpaid him. Can we recoup the overpayment on a future request for mileage reimbursement?  What is the best way for us to recoup the over payment or is this not a good practice?  He was over paid $169.20.

A. According to Rule 126.16, which applies to recoupment, it only applies to income benefits, not travel reimbursement. Unfortunately, there is no mechanism to recover it other than voluntary return by the claimant.
