For the past 10 years lawyers from Flahive, Ogden & Latson have presented as part of the Workers’ Compensation Institute’s national conference. The Orlando conference is a 3-day learning extravaganza for stakeholders in the workers’ compensation community. The conference typically attracts 8,000 to 9,000 attendees. The three-day presentation took place August 17-19, 2020.
November 12, 2020, WCI will present a virtual reboot version of the first day of the multi-state portion of the conference– and attendance is free.
Our firm will participate in this popular multi-state review of laws in 13 jurisdictions, including California, Illinois, Florida, Texas, Georgia and eight more states. Lawyers from each of those states will discuss how their jurisdiction approaches the investigation and compensability determination of injuries alleged to have occurred while working from home. In addition, the attorney panels will contrast and compare the use of the intoxication defense in each jurisdiction. There will be a special emphasis on developing effective file closure techniques.
The two-hour session, which will take place on November 12, 2020 and January 13, 2020, has been approved by the Texas Department of Insurance for 2 hours of continuing education credit. (Registration for and attendance at both sessions is required by TDI rules.)
