Ringler Touts its Top 10 Verdicts of 2020

Better late than never. Ringler Associates, a national settlement planning company, has published its list of the Top 10 Verdicts of 2020.

The national list was commissioned from VerdictSearch, a nationwide provider of verdict and settlement research. This is not a workers’ comp list; it focuses on liability for wrongful death, auto, truck and pedestrian accidents, and a defective hip implant. But it is interesting reading nevertheless.

Topping the list this year is an asbestos verdict from New Jersey.

1. 1. 1. $787 million punitive damages to group of plaintiffs affected by asbestos-tainted talc products:Four people filed a suit against Johnson & Johnson, alleging that the company’s talc-based products contained asbestos and caused mesothelioma. After winning $37.3 million in actual damages earlier, the plaintiffs were awarded $787 million in a second trial. State caps later reduced the award to $186.5 million
