TDI Proposes Amendments to 28 TAC Sections 1.414 and 7.1001

The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) recently proposed amendments to two sections of the Texas Administrative Code: 28 TAC 1.414 and 28 TAC 7.1001. The proposed amendments to Section 1.414 concern the 2016 assessment of maintenance taxes and fees imposed by the Texas Insurance Code. Specifically, the purpose of the proposed amendment is to adjust the assessed rates for 2016 based on gross premium receipts in 2015. The proposed amendments to Section 7.1001 concern examination expenses and assessments as a means of covering costs associated with examining domestic and foreign insurers. Collectively, the proposals purport to implement non-substantive changes as a means of achieving conformity to the current department style and usage guide.

The proposals will be published on the TDI website and in the 11/13/15 issue of the Texas Register. The agency has invited public comment on the proposals through December 14, 2015.
